Case Study:
Umee

Working with the team at Umee - now called UX Chain - I brought my 3D animation & post-production skills to multiple projects in the crypto industry.

Ojo Network: end-to-end 3D video production

Leveraging Cinema 4D, Redshift & After Effects, the star of the show was a stylish 3D promo for Ojo Network. I led the project from initial style concepts, through animation & rendering, and final post-production, including sound design.

The workflow was the typical “style frame” strategy used in the motion graphics industry. I worked using still images, building up the project underneath to animate everything at the very end. This lets the client have a good sense of the final (or near-final) appearance of things, to review & approve, without the artist having to do the major legwork of animation & rendering.

Below is a frame from early in the process that was cut from final production. The concept was portraying malicious actors (hackers) as pesky wasps. Deleted scene!

Here is the final “blockout” video that was approved by the client before final animation was performed.

The rabbit: a custom 3D character

A second major project was performed for a crypto product that was ultimately cancelled. I custom-designed a cool rabbit character in Cinema 4D that was going to be the mascot!

He was prepared with different outfits and poses, ready to animate in future applications. Here’s a deeper look!
